Help Your Heating Equipment Go Further This Heating Season

- 2:50 pm - October 15th, 2021

You ordered the fuel, you scheduled the tune-ups - but your role in helping your heating equipment perform well throughout the heating season doesn’t have to end there!

Here’s a list of simple tasks you can perform to ensure your equipment’s operation, in addition to the regular maintenance performed by a professional HEAT USA heating oil provider technician:

Change Your Air Filter

Air filters prevent dirt, dust and other particulates from circulating through the home, so be sure to replace yours regularly! It is recommended to change one-inch filters every one to three months and four-inch filters every six to 12 months.

Keep All Your Vents Open

Even if you aren’t using a room, keeping the vents open is better for the heating equipment as it is designed to warm your entire home. Closing vents can cause unnecessary strain on the system leading to more wear and tear.

Install a Programmable Thermostat

Programmable thermostats will help you significantly manage your energy usage throughout the heating season (and cooling season as well!) by keeping the equipment on a consistent, energy-saving schedule.

Seal Up Your Home

Make sure your home is properly insulated in order to retain the heat from your heating system, and seal any gaps or spaces around any windows and doors to keep the cold air out.

We hope with these tips - and some help from our reliable heating oil provider partners - you’ll have a comfortable and enjoyable heating season! If you have yet to sign up for a HEAT USA membership, don’t wait any longer! Sign up today.
