With the cost of heating oil rising for everyone, especially heating oil companies, the rumor mill has been alive with word that several dealers are looking to get out of the business. Our dealers are reporting that many companies are currently in play. Clearly consumers are not the only victims of the current energy crisis. Many very good companies will not be able to survive this winter simply because they are not well capitalized and cannot afford to carry customer receivables. All HEAT members should know we are monitoring all of our dealers’ financial health on a regular basis and have contingency plans in place for problems if they arise.
